3-Legged Monkey to Keep Permit
EL PASO — The 3-Legged Monkey will not see its permit revoked.
That was the decision from administrative law judge Veronica Najera Tuesday.
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission tried to get the bar's permit taken away, claiming the bar was often over-capacity and responsible for the murder of a Fort Bliss soldier back in the summer of 2011.
The judge said there wasn't enough evidence to show the bar's responsible for overserving, which the TABC said led to the murder.
Owner Michael Armstrong said it's just another battle he's fought and won to keep his business open.
"It's a moment of vindication for all those people that have said things erroneously about our establishment," Armstrong said. "So, we're proud to move forward for another 10 years."
Armstrong filed for bankruptcy to keep the city from trying to terminiate his lease at Hawkins Plaza.
