27th Annual Balloonfest: A Party in the Sky
EL PASO, TX — A Memorial Day weekend well spent, for many in the Borderland at the 27th annual Balloonfest on the golf course at Santa Teresa Country Club.
Over 30 hot air balloon teams were in town for 3 straight days of early morning launches. Families got up bright and early too to enjoy the free event. It was a first for the Zubia family.
"I want everybody from El Paso to come down here. It's a great location. It's beautiful scenery. Great mountains. The balloons look awesome. It's just a great morning for the family," said festival-goer Angel Zubia.
And even if they had to get up early, kids enjoyed the colors in the morning sky.
“It's awesome," said festival-goer Angel Zubia.
And there were a few crowd favorites like spyder pig and betty jean the butterfly.
"They're really colorful and they're cool. I like the spider pig because it's like more animated and it comes from a funny cartoon," said festival-goer Patricia Soto.
