2,626 murders in the past year in our sister city.

Last years record 1,600 murders prompted the mexican government to bring in 10,000 soldiers for help.

That help didn't do anything to help reduce the number deaths. In fact, many people in Juarez claim the military has only made things worse.

Juarez remains entrenched in a drug war that claims the lives of thousands. The numbers don't even begin to tell the story. Each one of these numbers represents a life, a family, gripped by this violence.

Take a look at the numbers.

4 years ago, Juarez saw 227 murders. 2008, the numbers were staggering, a record 1,623 murders.

2009 eclipsed last year's total by 1,003 executions as we mentioned at 2,626.
