18-Year-Old Steals $40 From Victim
LAS CRUCES— The 18-year-old man suspected to have been involved in an armed robbery at a Las Cruces bank parking lot was arrested early Saturday morning.
Manuel Luis Castillo was arrested by Las Cruces Police officers at a home on the 600 block of Cielo Vista Ct.
LCPD were called on a report of an armed robbery in the parking lot of the First Light Federal Credit Union at 3791 E. Lohman Ave. Police said the victim of the armed robbery was leaving the parking lot of the bank when he was involved in a small “fender bender” with a gold KIA sedan. Police said Castillo was the driver of the KIA. Castillo got out of his car and started an argument with the victim. He then went back to his car, retrieved a handgun, and pointed it at the victim demanding money. Castillo then took $40 from the victim before getting back inside of his KIA and driving off. The victim was not injured.
The KIA was found a short time later, but Castillo eluded LCPD until Saturday.
Castillo has been charged with one count of armed robbery and is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center with a bond set at $50,000.
