EL PASO— Many El Pasoans received an early morning knock at the door this week after El Paso County Sheriff's deputies and a constable arrested those wanted for unpaid child support.

The sweep, which was assisted by the Texas Attorney General's Child Support Division, started Tuesday when EPCSO Sheriff Wiles dispatched deputies to arrest non-compliant parents. The CSD helped deputies and Constable White find the wanted parents.

17 people were arrested on civil warrants and face up to six months in jail.

Officials said “delinquent” parents can “avoid embarrassment” of being arrested at their home or their work by contacting the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. Parents whom have also fallen behind on their payments but do not have a warrant out for their arrest should immediately call the AG's CSD at (800) 252-8014 to make payment arrangements.

4robmarin....don't blame the president if you can't find a job. Get up every morning and look. The Lord will help you find a job...they arenot going to knock on your door and offer you a job.

My exhusband owes $36k in unpaid child support. His boss pays him cash so he doesn't have 2 garnish wages 4 payment of child support. I've provided work&home address&even pics of him working w/the owner@the job site. The AG says the owner said the exhusband just "happened" 2 b there helping that day, but he doesn't work there-of course! The AG says their hands are tied. $36K owed 2 my kids&the officials are concerned about "the delinquent parent avoiding embarrasment"? what's wrong w/this pic?

ANOTHER WAIST OF TAXPAYERS MONEY POLICE PICKING UP PEOPLE WHO CANT FIND WORK OR NO MEANS OF INCOME THANKS TO OUR PRESEDENT. POLICE JUST KEEP DOING WHAT THEY THINK IS IMPORTANT FOR THE CITY, NOT A THING...

My EX is almost $40,000 behind in child support, but I can't get the Attorney General's office to do anything except send letters to his employer....who refuses to garnish his wages because she is his fiance....AND A VERY WEALTHY BUSINESS WOMAN IN EL PASO! I'm sorry, but arresting 17 Deadbeats is NOTHING compared to the number of them out there!!!
