11 month old Neveah Martinez laid to rest
EL PASO — Family, friends and even people that didn't know 11 month old Neveah Martinez, celebrated her life today at her funeral.
Family members wearing pink shirts with Neveah's picture, release doves in honor of 11 month old Neveah, symbolizing her release from this life to her place in heaven.
"She's in a better place now. It's gonna help us feel better ourselves because we know she's getting taken care of better than we could with god,” said Neveah's dad, Carlos Flores.
No one is grieving more than her parents Janet Martinez and Carlos Flores as her tiny casket is laid to rest.
Neveah was allegedly murdered by her mother's boyfriend on the morning of September 7th. Since news of her death, the community has reached out to the family. Operation Hope funded the funeral.
"I appreciate it a lot from all the people that came. People that don't know us. Everyone that helped I appreciate them all for helping us during this hard time," said Flores.
Flores, has not been as outspoken as other family members. A teacher of his says he's always been a devoted father and enrolled in school to get a degree and better his job growth for his baby. And life without his little girl will not change that because his professor says he plans on continuing his education in memory of Neveah.
Police arrested and have charged Irving Aaron Gomez with capital murder in the death of Neveah Martinez.
