The National Rifle Associating is underfire for launching a new target shooting game on iTunes.

The free game "NRA: Practice Range" is targeted towards kids four years and older and was released Monday, exactly one month after the Sandy Hook Massacre.

NRA: Practice Range features a 3D-shooting range and offers users simulated target practice.

Players use a variety of weapons, including assault weapons to fire at indoor and outdoor gun ranges as well as skeet shooting practice.

Users don’t shoot live subjects in the app, but instead are given an M9 handgun and sent to target practice in three immersive shooting ranges.

The NRA says the game offers a balance of gaming as well as gun safety education.

Last month NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre blamed the nation's gun violence problem in part of violent video games.
