Action Movie To Be Filmed In The Sun City

EL PASO- In the next couple of months you may be seeing some road closures in certain parts of town and maybe even helicopters hovering overhead.

It’s not part of construction or anything of the sort. It’s actually going to be an action movie that's set to be shot in the Sun City. Those involved in the project say they couldn't be more excited to see their home town on the big screen.

Director Benny Ontiveros is taking test shots in Northeast El Paso as production gets ready to start for the action movie "Neptune Killerz". Mark Love, the star of the film, plays Ricco.

"He’s basically fighting against, you know, an established government who's taken over the world and they're trying to run things and my character, Ricco, has to battle that government," says Love.

Love, a Montwood graduate, has been modeling and acting for years, having roles in local and national commercials and the locally-produced film “Borderlords”.  He says he's thrilled to have the opportunity to work on a film that is expected to be released on the big screen.

"I’m going to be doing a lot of physical stunts, acting, running, a lot of explosions, gun play, there are a lot of fight scenes I’m actually preparing for," says Love.

Neptune Killerz is set to be shot between August and December and most of the movie will be filmed right here in the Sun City.

"There’s a couple of areas in the desert on the East Side. Scenic Drive is one of the biggest areas that we're trying to get permission to shoot at and another location we're going to film at is a couple of night clubs," says Ontiveros.

Between 50 to 60 crew members will call El Paso home during the duration of filming.  "I think doing a film of this caliber and this size and being able to bring it to El Paso and say we are from El Paso it's going to show everybody that, ‘Hey, we're on the map’,” says Love.

Love hopes to make his own mark in Hollywood. He says the studio that signed him to be the star of "Neptune killerz" has big plans for him.

"They want me to be a new face that they're coming up with in films. That's what they're betting on. That's their investment in me and that's what they told me that we're going to create a totally new character for me and a new type of actor.  We're gonna bring to the big screen," says Love.

The director expects to hold auditions sometime next month to cast some characters and also extras right here in El Paso. We’ll keep you posted.

I would have to respectfully disagree with Matt989, I was apart of a goup that was visiting El paso from Richmond Virgina about 19 of us, we happened to get the chance to see Border Lords II in the theater, we thought it was great we even purchased dvd's. So Congrats to people who have the courage to go out and do something they believe in, we look forward to seeing Mark Love on the big screen. Some advice to Matt989 and jlsmith, negativity and immature comments show poor and insecure character.

Definitely not insecure Shellybright65. If a movie is good, I'll praise it. If a movie is bad, well, it deserves criticism. Borderlords 2 was a terrible movie. As someone who has studied film, I can tell you that it was poorly acted, the lighting was terrible, and the script sucked. I think it's great that people want to go out and make movies in El Paso, and I really hope this movie turns out better than Borderlords 2. And some advice for you Shellybright65: get some better taste please.

I hear that they will have the world premeire at Grauman's Chinese Theatre, I mean Grand China buffet on Viscount.

Why would you say that jlsmith, seems a bit hurtful this seems to be a big film bringing a shot to the city and people in it, we should support these things when they happen.

Sincerely;
A working mother and proud citizen

How awesome! I look forward to the movie and future success of Mark Love. Hopefully he will bring more productions to the El Paso area.

These are the same guys responsible for Borderlords 2, which is probably the worst movie I've ever seen. They said that movie was going to be on the "big screen" too. It went straight to DVD and maybe sold ten copies.

Hi there Matt, you might be mistaken, my wife and I were extras in he Border Lords film, it had a big premiere night at Basset theaters, sold out and then it showed in other theaters, we only made it to 3 of them. They started selling the dvd's a mont later because we got a couple for our daughter and friends that are away at university.

Yeah, it had a big premiere full of friends and family. And they couldn't even get the movie to start on time. I was there LuisG101. And I'm sure you remember how restless the audience was, and how towards the end people were laughing at how bad the acting was. Am I still mistaken?

These are the same guys responsible for Borderlords 2, which is possibly the worst movie I've ever seen in my life.
