Man Arrested After Threatening Girlfriend With Knife
LAS CRUCES- Police have arrested a man who physically assaulted his girlfriend and threatened her with a butcher knife late Monday night.
Pablo A. Soto Jr., 18, is charged with one count each of aggravated battery and aggravated assault against a household member, one count of battery and two counts of false imprisonment.
Las Cruces Police detectives learned that Soto and his 18-year-old girlfriend got into a heated argument shortly before midnight on June 20 and it quickly turned physical. At some point during the confrontation Soto pinned down his girlfriend on a bed and threatened her with a butcher knife.
Detectives also learned that Soto attempted to strangle his girlfriend and used the knife to stab the mattress near her head. The woman was not seriously injured during the incident.
Soto was arrested at the Las Cruces Police Department Tuesday afternoon and was subsequently transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with a cash-only bond set at $50,000.
