LAS CRUCES- Police have arrested a woman who is believed to have forged three checks from a previous employer.

Ashley Magdaleno, 21, is charged with three counts of forgery. The charges are fourth-degree felony counts.

On Monday, Sept. 19, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to Compass Bank, at 225 E. Idaho Ave., where Magdaleno was attempting to cash a $1,462 check from her former employer. The bank declined the transaction because Magdaleno cashed two other checks from the same account, on Sept. 14 and Sept. 16, and those checks were believed to be forged.

Detectives learned that the checks Magdaleno cashed last week totaled $2,361.

Magdaleno was arrested and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000.
