Villegas Hearing Recessed Until Tomorrow

Wednesday, September 7, 2011 - 4:44pm

EL PASO- For all the drama that it promised, this turned into a very brief day in court for convicted killer Daniel Villegas.

The judge recessed for the day, before even starting. The prosecution and the defense spoke with the judge before the hearing about legal questions that both sides want to research before having Detective Al Marquez take the witness stand.

Marquez is the detective who allegedly got a confession out of Villegas, back when he was 16 years old. Villegas's defense team argues that their client was forced to confess to a crime he didn't commit. The detective will report back to the witness stand tomorrow morning. We’ll be there to bring you the very latest.
