UTEP Student Convicted on Child Porn Charges Sentenced

EL PASO- A man charged with possessing child pornography has been sentenced to 5 years in prison today.

Luis Enriquez-Alonso, 26, a UTEP student, pleaded guilty to downloading and possessing child pornography.

In addition, United States District Judge Frank Montalvo ordered that Enriquez-Alonso pay $150,000 restitution to be dispersed to the child victims in the pornography he possessed. Enriquez-Alonso tendered the restitution amount in court today. Judge Montalvo also ordered that he be placed under supervised release for the remainder of his life after completing his prison term.


On May 19, 2011, Enriquez-Alonso, a Mexican citizen residing in El Paso, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography. By pleading guilty, Enriquez admitted that he used two individual Internet Protocol (IP) addresses–one at home, the other at the university–to download child pornography
