Undercover Cop Arrests Teen for Selling Stolen Camera

LAS CRUCES- A man who tried to sell a stolen digital camera on Craigslist has been arrested after someone reported seeing an advertisement for the stolen property on the popular online classified website.

Eloy Marquez, 18, of the 5800 block of Stern Drive, is charged with one count of receiving stolen property over $500, a fourth-degree felony.


On Monday, a person who knew the camera was stolen spotted it for sale on Craigslist and reported it to police.

Police contacted the seller via text message with the saying he wanted to meet Marquez to buy the camera. When he arrived, police made the arrest. Marquez was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000.
