Three unrelated semi crashes happened within just a few hours of each other.  One crash ended tragically as a 69-year-old man was killed late today when his car hit an 18-wheeler in Northeast El Paso.  The crash happened at Transmountain and Rushing.  Witnesses at the scene say the big rig flattened the car when the 29-year-old driver in the Jetta cut off the 18-wheeler.  An ambulance rushed Juan Hernandez, 69, a passenger in the Jetta to a hospital, where he died. Police say there was little the semi driver could do and that he is not to blame for the crash.

Meanwhile, a driver of a semi had a heart attack while driving on I-10 near Vinton, causing his big rig to jackknife. Traffic was backed up for miles in both directions as emergency crews worked at the scene.  According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Department, the driver was the only one in the truck at the time.  He is a 56-year-old man from El Paso.  No word on his condition tonight.

Another accident in South El Paso involved a big rig.  This one happened as the driver was on Alameda near Thomason Hospital and took the curve too fast.  The truck was loaded with 22 tons of cardboard.  The driver was headed to a nearby recycling company.  The good news here is that no one was injured during this crash and no other vehicles were involved.
