Teen Arrested After Throwing Baggies of Weed by Police Officer
EL PASO – Police have arrested and charged an 18-year old with possession of marijuana.
Police say Jonathan Avalos, 18, was driving down Yermoland Monday morning when he threw two baggies of marijuana out the window of the vehicle in front of a police unit. The officers recovered the marijuana and Avalos was stopped at nearby after he ran a stop sign. Further investigation revealed that Avalos had 27 additional baggies of marijuana in a backpack inside the SUV.
The total weight of the 29 baggies of marijuana came to 8.54 ounces. Avalos was placed under arrest and booked into the El Paso County Jail on the possession of marijuana and four outstanding Municipal Court warrants. His bonds totaled $2,098.00.
