SOCORRO- Hundreds of Socorro students skipped class today and the district had no problem with it.
Instead, the students gathered to present a united front against bullying. Each grade at Bill Sybert Middle School learned what defines bullying and how to stop it. The students tell us they're now more confident about stopping bullies.
"It helps because if people see that they're doing this that are bullies, they'll see that being a bully isn't such a great thing," says fourth grader, Michelle Martinez.
"It’s important because bullied people can really feel sad and it can actually lead to suicide. So it's important to stop it. We don't want it to lead to anything serious," says 7th grader, Valeria Padilla.
The students and principal say bullying isn't a big problem at Sybert but they hope this program will stop anybody with bullying on his mind.
