Detention Officer Dies at Special Training

EL PASO---- An El Paso County Detention Officer died Sunday, one day after trying out for a special reaction team, according to deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
Cesar Arreola, 37, was participating in the Special Reaction Team tryouts Saturday morning, said Public Information Officer Jesse Tovar in a news release.
Officer Arreola told deputies he felt lightheaded and was short of breath after the tryout, said Tovar.
Medical staff on site began treating him and an ambulance later transported him to Sierra-Providence East, where he remained until early this morning, said Tovar.
Arreola died around 5 a.m. Sunday morning, said Tovar.
