EL PASO- Congressman Reyes and Mayor Cook are raising support for the American Jobs Act.

They say that federal money would let local school districts avoid layoffs and make necessary improvements. Congressman Reyes believes that additional money could also relieve traffic congestion caused by rapid growth in El Paso.

"Because of growth and success we've had with Ft. Bliss, we have to continue to focus on improving the infrastructure. We're already getting complaints from traffic jams on I-10. We have to complete look 375. We do believe we're positioned ideally to complete the project if this jobs initiative goes through," says Congressman Reyes.

He also says federal money could improve border crossings and reduce time for goods to cross to and from Mexico.
