Police Investigate 3 Shootings in 4 Hours
EL PASO– Officers responded to three separate shootings between Sunday night and early Monday morning.
The first shooting occurred in the 2700 block of Porter at about 11:00 p.m. Sunday. The shooting is believed to have stemmed from an earlier fight between two groups of men and escalated to one of the groups returning to the neighborhood and firing several shots at the home. No one was injured from the gunfire and no arrests have been made in this case.
The second shooting occurred near the First Cocktail Lounge at around 1:30a.m. Monday. A argument began inside the lounge and as one of men was leaving the lounge he was assaulted. While in the parking lot, the victim of the assault heard shots being fired in the area moments after he had been assaulted. The investigation showed that a van had been struck by the gunfire. No injuries resulted from the gunfire and police are still working this case.
The third shooting occurred in the 3000 block of Idalia at about 3:00 a.m. Monday. A resident woke up to the sound of gunfire and found his van on fire. He was able to extinguish the fire with a garden hose. The investigation has shown that bullets struck the van and the residence. Police were able to recover multiple shell casings at the scene. No arrests have been made in this case at this time.
Investigators have not determined whether or not any of these shootings are related and as stated earlier these are ongoing criminal investigations.
