LA CAJON, CALI- A California police officer is in critical but stable condition after being shot in the neck while responding to a domestic disturbance call.
The shooting and the chilling moments that followed were caught on camera. The video shows El Cajon police officer Jarret Slocom holding his neck, running until he falls, then being carried away from the scene by another officer. Police responded to a report of a gunman at a home Sunday afternoon in El Cajon, northeast of San Diego.
That same caller told police the house was on fire. Police say the believe the suspect, 31-year old Kevin Collier, probably died in the fire he set at the home.
Police say Collier texted family members Sunday to say he'd killed his 1-year old daughter and his mother-in-law, who remains missing. The girl's body was found in the suspected gunman's truck near the burning home. The girl had been shot in the head.
