Off Duty Officer Threatened With Knife By Man Stealing Beer

EL PASO- An El Paso man was arrested Wednesday night after confronting an off duty officer with a knife after stealing beer from a West El Paso Wal-Mart.

40-year-old Wesley Skatzes threatened an off duty officer and a Wal-Mart employee with a knife when they confronted him about the stolen beer.

Skatzes then fled on foot with the beer, but El Paso Police Officers were able to locate him with the help of the Wal-Mart employees.

He was seen attempting to hide the weapon used in the robbery. Skatzes resisted arrest and after a brief struggle officers were able to place him under arrest.

Skatzes has been booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on charges of Aggravated Robbery and Resisting Arrest Search or Transportation.
