New System Could Shorten Wait Times At International Bridges

Wait times at the international bridges could be getting much shorter. El Paso Mayor John Cook told local business leaders today that he'll soon meet with U.S. Customs leaders about a system that would pre-approve vehicles with secure cargo. That would make wait times at the bridge much shorter.

"You won't have to wait on lines to get through customs and immigration," said Mayor Cook. "Your secure cargo came from a secure origin and you'll be allowed to travel across the bridge without waiting in traffic with everyone else."

If the Secure Origins program is approved, it could be implemented as soon as May.

With all due respect to our mayor, who is trying for commerce, this is BS. There is no such thing as secure especially coming from Mexico, where "just about" everyone and everything is corrupt.
