El Paso--Hundreds of online businesses are using computers to find social security numbers - usually those assigned to children who don't use them - then selling those numbers under another name to help people establish phony credit.
We spoke with FBI officials who say this type of fraud will be difficult to stop because of its targets.
They recommend parents check with the Credit Bureaus to see if there is a credit file associated with your child's Social Security Number.

This one single string of numbers that is being used incorrectly could have serious reprocutions to your life if you realize it or not.

The IRS will love to talk to your kid if he has been collected wages and never filed his W-2 forms. Doubt the IRS will care if if your child has identity theft cuz now you gotta prove that your kid is a kid. So time and legal fee will be yours to pay.

Thats just one example of what could happen.
