New Alternative to Botox Helps Patients Reduce Wrinkles
A new alternative to Botox called Xeomin, approved by the Food and Drug Administraion in July, is showing up in plastic surgeons' offices.
"What it does is it relaxes the muscle that creates wrinkles in the face and the most common area is the wrinkles that occur between the eyes with frowning," explains Dr. Tim Greco.
Xeomin is similar to Botox and Dysport.
Dr. Greco says what makes it different is there are no additives.
He says that means you are less likely to build up an immunity to it like you can with Botox or Dysport which makes them less effective.
The doctor says that's why Xeomin may be particularly beneficial to some patients.
"When you look at the science behind the product, it is another alternative for us to use in patients that maybe think they didn't get," he says.
