NASA Flight Director, From El Paso Visits Local Rec Center
El Paso, Texas – Ginger Kerrick, the first female flight director for a NASA Space Mission in 2008 will be visiting El Paso to discuss her 18 year career with NASA as part of National Parks and Recreation Month.
Kerrick will be at the Pat O’Rourke Recreation Center, 901 N. Virginia St. at 11:00 a.m. on July 23rd.
Kerrick, still with NASA is a native El Pasoan and is a graduate of Hanks High School, and has a Bachelor of Science in Physics Degree in 1991, and a Masters of Science in Physics Degree in 1993 from Texas Tech University. She started her stellar career in athletics with the City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department in the McDonalds Basketball League.
Ms. Kerrick was also the first person to be a Russian Training Integration Instructor and she has trained cosmonauts and astronauts. She has wanted to be a part of NASA since she was 5 years old and she will discuss her early years in the Sun City and the vision for her success.
The “Star Among Us” event is free but a ticket is needed to get into the festivities. Complimentary Tickets are going quickly and are available by picking them up in person only at the Pat O’Rourke Recreation Center with a minimum of 4 tickets per person.
