LAS CRUCES- Police have arrested a woman suspected of causing skull and arm injuries to her 11-month-old daughter.
Mallorie Ann Terrell, 22, was arrested Friday and is charged with one count of intentional child abuse. Terrell’s 11-month-old daughter remains hospitalized with fractures to her skull and upper-arm.
On Friday, Dec. 2, Las Cruces Police learned that Terrell’s 11-month-old daughter was in an area hospital with what appeared to be a fractured arm. Upon examination by hospital personnel, it was determined that the young girl had a torsion fracture of her left arm and a fracture to her skull.
A torsion fracture results from the twisting of a limb. As of Friday, medical professional were not sure what caused the skull fracture.
Detectives interviewed Terrell, her boyfriend, the child’s biological father and medical professionals and determined that the injuries could have only been caused when the girl was in the custody of her mother.
Temporary custody of the 11-month-old child and her 2-year-old sister has been granted to their biological father.
Terrell was incarcerated at the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
