EL PASO - It might soon be easier to become a mobile food vendor in El Paso.

The El Paso City Council is deciding whether to reduce the required space between food vendors and standing restaurants.

Also in the future there would be no mobile vehicle inspection requirement for a temporary permit.

Mobile food vendor Ian Atkins says it's hard right now to deal with different requirements for his mobile business and his restaurant

"When you have conflicting requirements like this, like Ripe is only required to be inspected every year but my preparation facility has to be inspected every six months. I don't have the authority to make them inspect every six months then I can be shut down through my fault of my own," Atkins said.

The city council will vote on the ordinance after it's written in a few weeks.
