An emotional memorial was held this afternoon at UTEP to remember two students shot and killed in Juarez last week.
The lives of Eder Diaz, 23, and Manuel Acosta, 25, who lived in Juarez were cut short last Tuesday. The two had gone back home to Juarez after leaving classes at UTEP when they were attacked by gunmen who shot them 36 times.
Manny, who also worked at UTEP, was remembered by his co-workers as a happy-go-lucky guy with a passion for life.
"During all the time I worked with him, he was more than a co-worker for me," said Yesenia, one of Manny's friends in attendance. "He was like a brother. He was one of my best friends."
"He taught us how not to take life seriously. He was loving and caring, always gave us advice," said Bernadette Flores, another of Manny's friends.
Manny's mom said although her son was taken away too soon, he will never be forgotten. "My son is not gone. His body is gone. But his spirit will stay in our hearts. God needed an angel. That's why he took him," she said.
