Man Leads Police on Drunken High Speed Chase

EL PASO- A suspected drunk driver led deputies in Dona Ana County on a high speed chase overnight.
Investigators say Tomas Enriquez had escaped custody earlier in the evening. Deputies spotted him again around midnight at a convenience store on Picacho and Motel. He sped off, nearly hitting several people at the store then went through several Las Cruces streets, eventually driving onto I-10.
Border Patrol agents helped by putting spikes on the road. Enriquez was arrested and charged with aggravated fleeing of a law enforcement officer, aggravated driving while under the influence of liquor or drugs, driving on a suspended or revoked license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous other traffic violations. He is being held in the Doña Ana County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
