EL PASO- A man has been arrested for DWI after he crashed his vehicle into a gas meter after celebrating his birthday.

Police say Samuel Sanchez, 28, was driving around a curve when he lost control of his car. He crashed into a gas meter, causing a heavy gas leak and evacuation of homes around the area.

His passenger, Jasmine Romo, 27, was taken to a local hospital for possible head injuries and lacerations. Sanchez was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and booked into the El Paso County Jail with a $5000.00 bond.
The driver and passenger were said to be leaving from a party after celebrating the driver’s birthday. Both are from Anthony, NM.
