Viewers will no longer be able to watch with an analog signal
At 12:30 this afternoon, NewsChannel 9 will join television stations around the country and turn off its analog signal. Today's transition ends a six-decade era for analog broadcasting.
When that happens, millions of viewers could be left in the dark.
The F.C.C. says as many as 3 million people have not hooked up their converter boxes. They have more than 4,000 operators on stand-by to answer calls from confused viewers.
If your television is hooked up to cable or satellite feeds, you're good to go.
If not, you'll need to get a converter box to pick up the new digital frequencies.
