Local Plastic Surgeon Says Avelar Tummy Tuck Works Wonders

EL PASO- A tummy tuck procedure developed nearly a decade ago has evolved over the years and the results are amazing.
That's what an El Paso plastic surgeon says. Dr. John pate says his patients love the results of Avelar Abdominoplasty, which includes less stretch marks and tighter stomachs.

"My stomach basically looked like a pouting bottom lip," said Dee Davis-Casso, who had the procedure done.

Dee had been through two C-sections and was a size 18.  "When I looked in the mirror, I didn't see the person I felt inside. I saw an overweight, misshapen person," said Dee.

When she visited plastic surgeon Dr. John Pate, he told her about a procedure called the Avelar Abdominoplasty, which involves having a tummy tuck, along with liposuction.

"The advantage of having the liposuction and the tummy tuck procedure done at the same time is that you can sculpt the waist, the hip and the tummy much better than with the older procedure," said Dr. Pate.

Dr. Pate says he has done close to 1,000 Avelar Abdominalplasties since starting the procedure eight years ago. He says there are five steps to the procedure, beginning with the lipo.  "The second stage is to remove the extra skin below the belly button and then the third stage is to tighten the tummy muscles," said Dr. Pate.  "Fourth procedure is stretching the upper skin of the tummy down."

He says stretch marks from the lower belly disappear and the ones from the upper area are not as visible. The last step is to work on the belly button. After the procedure, Dee says she went from a size 18 to a size 12 and lost about 25 lbs.

"I have self-confidence. I can buy clothes off the rack. I'm proud to say that I’m 50 and a grandma and I can wear a two-piece swimsuit out in public," said Dee.

The procedure costs anywhere $5,000 to $10,000.  As with any surgical procedure, there are risks and side effects involved, depending on your health and other factors.
