Local Nurses Take to the Street to Protest Working Conditions

EL PASO- Nurses from Las Palmas and Del Sol took to the streets today to protest their hospitals.

They chanted, "Ain't no power like the power of the nurse- cause the power of the nurse don't stop, say what?".

About 100 people from the two hospitals and their unions held up signs and protested about the staffing situation at the hospital. A woman we spoke with says that in one department, nurses are handling twice the number of patients they're supposed to.

"We are only asking for them to abide by their own standards we feel like they are not abiding by it and we're asking for patient safety standards that they already have in place and that is a national standard," says Terri Little-Vergundo, RN.

The next round of negotiations with the hospital will take place next month.
