EL PASO – Business is booming for flower shops around El Paso, and while that's good news for them, for people whom chose to wait until the last minute they may be out of luck.
If you've already decided on getting flowers, shops said, get your orders in now.
“Earlier is better because, especially with the specialty containers, we do run out of them very quickly, and that goes for every flower shop in town,” said Marisa Guerrero, an employee at Debbie's Bloomers on George Dieter. “They'll run out of them before Monday comes, so if you haven't ordered your specialty containers yet, you need to do it now.”
A dozen roses is the most popular arrangement this time of year. However, if a person would like something less traditional, exotic flowers may be the way to go.
“Tropical flowers, things like that, but if you have someone who likes plants, plants are a good thing,” said Guerrero.
For those on a tight budget, Mary Reyes, who owns Casablanca Flowers and Gifts on Mesa St., said there's no need to break the bank.
“You don't have to drop $100 in order to send something,” said Reyes.
Guerrero said pricey arrangements don't have to be the only option.
“Do your roses or your flowers without a vase, because if we have to arrange them in a vase, that's more expensive,” stated Guerrero.
Not choosing flowers this year? There are other things you can get for your partner.
“There's always the traditional chocolates and stuffed animals, but you've just got to be creative,” said Guerrero.
