Lift Off: Last Day of Balloonfest A Hit

EL PASO- Hundreds of you woke up at the crack of dawn today to catch the final morning of the balloon fest.

The first hot air balloons launched around 6:30 this morning at the Santa Teresa Country Club. Some folks were brave enough to ride a balloon up into the air while others decided to watch from the safety of the ground. But most families told us they were there to remember the men and women who've sacrificed so much for our freedom.

“Being a veteran it's about remembering all those who lost their lives for our country. Being here with the family is great but in reality true Memorial Day is remembering all those men and women who fought for our freedom and lost their lives. It's really special to be out here today," says Robert Parra, Balloonfest attendee.

“I really love Memorial Day because it was the day that a lot of men died for our independence," says Jarrett Maynard.

Access to the launch field was free.
