LCPS Discusses Redistricting Boundaries for New High School
LAS CRUCES- An advisory committee will hold a public meeting to discuss the redistricting boundaries for the new Centennial High School, set to open in August 2012.
The recommended attendance zone would also change the boundaries for Las Cruces, Mayfield and Oñate high schools.
The meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the following dates and locations: Monday, September 26, at Las Cruces High School cafeteria/commons, 1750 El Paseo Road; Wednesday, September 28, at Oñate High School cafeteria/commons, 5700 Mesa Grande Drive; and Monday, October 3, at Vista Middle School cafeteria, 4465 Elks Road.
A detailed map will be available at each of the community meetings and is also online at: www.lcps.k12.nm.us. In addition, a special e-mail address has been set up for the public to send comments electronically, email@example.com.
For its first school year, 2012-13, Centennial will house freshmen and sophomores; juniors will have the option to attend their existing high school or go to Centennial if they live within its attendance zone. Seniors will remain at their current home schools and won’t be added to the new school until 2013-14.
