LCPD to Conduct 3 Sobriety Checkpoints Soon
LAS CRUCES- Residents of Las Cruces should think twice before drinking and driving for the next few weeks.
The Las Cruces Police Department will conduct at least three sobriety checkpoints within city limits between the dates of Aug. 25 and Sept. 18, 2011.
LCPD’s sobriety checkpoints are intended to crack down on those driving while intoxicated.
The Las Cruces Police Department encourages those who plan on consuming alcoholic beverages to arrange ahead of time and use a designated driver – someone who will not be drinking alcoholic beverages – for their transportation needs.
Police also encourages residents to report disorderly gatherings or loud house parties. Anyone having a house party in violation of the noise ordinance may be subjected to a fine of $300 to $500 and up to 30 days in jail.
