LAS CRUCES- Police have arrested two teenagers who are believed to have used stolen firearms during a Thursday morning shooting at a home on Hadley Avenue.
Raymond Paul Garces, 17, and Pablo Antonio Dimas, 16, are charged with one count each of shooting at an inhabited dwelling, conspiracy and receiving stolen property. Both are being held without bond at the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
Police say Garces, Dimas and the teenage girlfriend of Garces drove to the home to confront someone. Police were told that Garces and Dimas were both armed with handguns when they approached the mobile home.
Detectives learned that Garces became enraged when someone at the residence shut the door in his face. Garces and Dimas got back into the car and the teenage girl drove them to another location near the mobile home.
Garces then exited the vehicle, jumped a fence and started shooting toward the mobile home. Dimas also got out of the vehicle and fired shots toward the home. The three then fled the area in the girl’s car.
Police learned of the shooting and responded to the area where they located several spent shell casings and damage to the mobile home. No injuries were reported.
Police identified the vehicle used and located the girl. On Thursday evening Garces was taken into custody, and evidence from several burglaries reported in Las Cruces and Dona Ana County was located.
Police believe that the weapons used during the shooting were stolen Nov. 30 from a home on Las Cruces’ east Mesa. Detectives are continuing their investigation and additional charges, including charges against the girl, are possible.
