Las Cruces Police say Linarez and his girlfriend were at an area nightclub early Saturday morning when they got into an argument. Linarez left the club and got a ride to their residence where he took her SUV without permission.

Police were alerted to the vehicle theft shortly after 2 a.m. when Linarez began chasing his girlfriend’s sister through city streets. An officer spotted the stolen Tahoe and attempted to stop it on Lohman Avenue but Linarez did not stop.

According to police, after driving down a dead-end road, Linarez turned the SUV around and almost hit a police officer.

Linarez eventually lost control of the SUV and crashed. After the crash Linarez was uncooperative with officers and a police K-9 was used to make an arrest.

Linarez was transported to a local hospital with relatively minor injuries prior to being booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $30,000 cash.
