LAS CRUCES— The man allegedly responsible for Sunday evening's shooting that sent a teen to a local hospital has been arrested.
Las Cruces police were called to the 800 block of Mimbres St. around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday after police said an argument about missing jewelry led to a physical confrontation between Rudy Luevano, 33, and a 19-year-old male, whom was Luevano's girlfriend's son.
Police said that during the argument, Luevano fired at least one gunshot from a .22 caliber handgun that hit the young man.
Luevano left the crime scene and was found by LCPD at a home on Missouri Ave. The 19-year-old male also left the home on Mimbres and was found a dew blocks away at Young Park.
The 19-year-old was airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso with a gunshot wound to his forehead. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
Luevano has been charged with one count each of aggravated battery that may cause death or great bodily harm, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Luevano is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $50,000.
