Apple's newest variation of the iPhone made its debut Friday with the 4S.

Eight a.m. brought an end to the anticipation, and for some, the end to a long night in line. Wider availability and more than a million pre-orders tempered the size of many crowds, but not their enthusiasm.

The new phone even lured Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. He was first in line at in Los Gatos, California. Apple pre-sold one million units of the 4S in the first 24 hours after its introduction last week, roughly 400,000 more than the original iPhone 4.
