P. E. class has long been a predictable blend of jumping jacks, kickball and running, but computer technology has changed those classes. At Guillen Middle School, P.E. has taken a whole new turn. It's called hopsport training and instead of having a flesh and blood coach leading the class, the teacher is on video and the coach is able to walk among the students and make sure they're doing the exercises the right way. There are nine middle schools in the EPISD using the hopsport system. It's paid for by a state grant from "Texas Fitness Now."
