EL PASO- A local costume shop offers some spook-takular ideas for those who want to get into the spirit of the season without revealing too much skin this Halloween.
NewsChannel 9's Lindsey Ashcraft goes behind the seams.
Shopping for a Halloween costume can become a trick rather than a treat as the holiday creeps up on us.
"I always laugh at the call, 'Do you have any more costumes left?' and I’m looking around going yes, I have costumes left," says Danielle Alvarez-Boney.
Danielle Alvarez-Boney, owner of timeless fashions, will keep you in stitches this Halloween with a collection of more than a thousand rental costumes she scared up while running a clothing exchange for nearly 25 years.
"After a few years of being in business exchanging clothes, I realized I had a bunch of stuff that was no longer in style and people didn't really want so I started turning them into costumes," says Alvarez-Boney.
Danielle's wicked wardrobe features authentic ethnic and period clothing as an alternative for those who want to avoid the scantily clad costumes typically sold at large Halloween stores.
"For some people instead of going to a costume shop and just getting something that's made out of synthetic fabrics. These are the real thing, the real fabric. So that's surprising to people, that they can actually find something that looks like it's the real thing," says Alvarez-Boney.
Danielle offers outfits from various time periods; she can even transform you into a goddess. Not of the Charlie Sheen variety, but still winning- Talk about Greek chic.
"What I have in here is 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s and I’ve got flappers and gangsters and I have saloon hall girls, western kinds of things, Indians and cowboys, and I have all sorts of pirate costumes."
Danielle says she doesn't monkey around this time of year as customers go apes over her selection.
"Some of them start dancing and some get into character and some of them, it's like a personality change for some people. It's fun to watch," says Alvarez-Boney.
Timeless Fashions also knows saving money never goes out of style and wants to help you take the "cost" out of your cost-ume this Halloween.
Danielle says the average rental costs between$ 25 and $45 and requires a deposit.
Timeless Fashions is located at 2120 Montana Avenue, will remain open from noon to 6 p.m. every day between now and Halloween.
