EPPD Detective Detained for Possible DWI

EL PASO- An El Paso Police Department Detective remains on administrative leave for allegedly driving while intoxicated at Fort Bliss.

Edric Flores, a 6-year veteran of EPPD, was stopped for speeding by Fort Bliss military police while on base Monday evening. Further investigation revealed that Flores, who was off-duty, was intoxicated, failed to stop his vehicle for Military Police, and was in possession of a firearm when stopped.

He was taken into custody for suspicion of DWI, Evading Arrest, and Unlawful Possession of a weapon on Federal facility and released. Criminal charges will be referred to the U.S. Attorneys office for review and consideration.

Find this detective guilty of any or all of the charges and he might get a week suspension with pay from the EPPD as well as a $500 fine if that and maybe some mandatory AA sessions. Find a citizen with no insurance and fine them over $350 dollars a year for 3 years as well as raise his insurance premiums and or throw the guy in jail for an unspecified amount of time (and its only a misdemeanor to not have insurance). This cop is going to get off lucky if you ask me
