EL PASO- The El Paso Police Department will conduct a “No Refusal Mandatory Blood Draw Operation” beginning Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 10:00 p.m. and ending Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 4:00 a.m.

These operations are conducted randomly throughout the year and target drivers arrested for drunk driving who refuse to provide a breath sample for analysis. In the event a driver refuses to provide a breath sample, the arresting officer completes the necessary paperwork for the issuance of a search warrant to secure a blood sample. Once obtained, the sample is then sent to a lab for analysis.

These operations will continue on a random basis throughout the upcoming year.
