EPISD Ceremony Honors Top 100 Scholarship Recipients
EL PASO- The El Paso Independent School District will honor its top 100 academic scholarship recipients with a ceremonial signing reception on Wednesday night.
The ceremony, which is to be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Professional Development Center on Boeing Drive, will spotlight 100 students who are collectively receiving more than $25 million in scholarships.
Included are two Gates Millennium Scholars: Michael Martinez from Chapin and Sarina Lucia Mireles from Irvin, who received over $1 million in scholarships as well as Priscilla Manglona of Austin, who received scholarships totaling nearly $1.7 million.
“Our student athletes who sign letters of intent for colleges often get public recognition and we are very proud of their accomplishments, but often our academic scholarship recipients tend to go largely unnoticed,” said Superintendent Dr. Lorenzo Garcia. “This ceremony honors the top scholarship recipients and gives them an opportunity to be recognized by the EPISD Board of Trustees, administration, and their peers.”
