WASHINGTON, DC- The Department of Education has awarded EPCC a grant worth more than a million dollars.

The grant, which totaled nearly $1.2 million, is part of the Hispanic-Serving Institutions STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Program.

El Paso Community College has joined with Texas Tech University to create a 2+2 architecture program that is unique in the nation for its focus on learning based on local community and student needs.

El Paso Community College plans to use this money to develop and expand this program, with the goal of making it a national model for future STEM programs at other community colleges and universities. In addition, EPCC hopes that this partnership will help increase the number of Hispanics and lower income students receiving degrees in STEM fields.
