El Paso Peanut Factory Catches Fire
EL PASO- A warehouse that processes peanuts caught fire this morning forcing more than two dozen workers to evacuate.
It happened just after 9:00 a.m. at BFG industries on Lee Fisher in Northeast El Paso. At least 30 firefighters responded to smoke coming from the warehouse.
Turns out, a piece of equipment used in the roasting process caught fire. Approximately 40 workers had to leave the building. The fire department says this isn't the first time this warehouse has caught fire.
"Because of the process we've had fires here at this location previous times. It's part of the process they have here. Sometimes this machinery will malfunction," says John Concha with the El Paso Fire Department.
No injuries were reported. The warehouse re-opened this afternoon.
