El Paso Parks and Rec To Hold 9/11 Event Honoring Community Heroes
EL PASO- The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department will host a variety of activities on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Nations Tobin Park, 8831 Railroad Drive while honoring Community Heroes.
A full slate of events is on tap during the day, highlighted by the evening festivities for the All American Hero Tribute Ceremony, Commemorative Coin Ceremony and a Candlelight Vigil. Guest speakers will be Mayor John Cook and Major General Dana J. H. Pittard, Commanding General 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss. Nanette Smejkal, El Paso Parks and Recreation Director will be Master of Ceremonies.
The El Paso High School Art Club under the leadership of their art teacher, David Quinn, will paint an American flag over the entire ceremonial football field at the park. Listed below are the activities.
