Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy Still Stands

The military's don't ask, don't tell policy is still intact today, surviving a vote that could have led to its repeal.
In a 56-43 vote, the Senate shot down a defense bill that included a change in the military's policy on gays.
Democrats had hoped to pass the bill before the November mid-term elections.
Republicans said a lack of healthy debate offered by Democrats doomed the bill.
